Coconut Cookies

My grandma comes to our house a lot. This time when she came she asked me if I wanted to make coconut cookies. I said yes because these are some of my favorite cookies that she makes. The ingredients are angel food cake, coconut, powdered sugar and some water. You can put food coloring in the sugar and water to make the cookies different colors. But not too much food coloring. Each rectangular angel food cake should make up to 48 pieces depending to how big you cut the angel food cake.

First, you cut the brown edges off the angel food cake. Then cut the rectangular angel food cake like it was a loaf of bread. Then you get the pieces of the angel cake that you just cut and you cut it again but this time into fours. You will cut the piece of bread up and down not side to side. Then you mix the powdered sugar with a little bit of water in a bowl. It does not matter if you use hot or cold water. It does not matter how much water you use just make sure that you do not use too much water. It needs to be a little bit thick. Then you will take the slices that you cut before and dip them in the bowl of the sugar and water. You will roll the pieces in the sugar and water. After that you will roll it in the coconut. Then you will let it dry on the tray for about 30 minutes. Once you have let it dry you will turn the cookies around and let it dry for another 30 minutes. After that you can either eat them or put them in the fridge and that's how you make coconut cookies.

Tissue Flower Kit

I got a kit that was called "Tissue Flower Kit". I love making these types of things. It takes me about 20 to 30 minutes for me to make one flower. They put tissue paper and a pre-bent flower stem in the box. That's all the stuff you need to make the tissue flowers. If you don't get the kit you can just use about 5 to 7 pieces of tissue paper. Then you make the papers even up to each other. When all of the papers are evened up you will accordian fold the paper. Fold it back and forth then back then forth. You will do that till all of the paper is evenly folded up. Then when it is all evened up make the edge of the paper face the ceiling. Face the edges down. Then hook the pre-bent wire around the paper. Once you have done that, you will wrap the wire around the paper again. When you wrap the wire around the second time the edge of the paper should be facing the ceiling. Then gently pull apart the layers one by one.

The things you need to make your very own Pillow Friend is a needle and some stuffing. You will also need felt. (You can also get all kinds of felt.) You're also going to need thread.

Step 1. You can draw what you want your Pillow Friend to look like
Step 2. You will cut out you Pillow Friend.
Step 3. You will get the string and start sewing on the eyes
Step 4. You will get some more string and start making the mouth
Step 5. You will even up the 2 pieces of your cut out Pillow Friend.

That's how you make a pillow friend.

You can add different face expressions. You can make your Pillow Friend happy. mad,sad or scared. If you want to. you could make them all the same color. This craft is for older kids especially, because you have to use a needle for most of the time when you are making it.

Mini-Notebooks

I made these notebooks because we were doing Entrepreneur Day at school for a projects. I make up to 5 notebooks at a time. It takes about 30 to 35 minutes to make 5 notebooks. They are great for gifts. You can use magazine letters and magazine photos to make your notebooks. There are all kinds of ways to make your notebook. All you need to make the notebooks is a plain white
notebook and some stuff to decorate it with. You can even use scrapbook paper.

For the first notebook in the photo I made it out of cut out paper and paint sample strips from the paint store. The Hannah Montana notebook is made out of the paint strip too. It is also made out of a photo of her from a magazine. For the last one I made it out of scrapbook paper. You can also make it out of stickers and all kinds of stuff. The white notebook is not that expensive. We got about 40 notebooks for about $10.00 dollars at Oriental Trading Company. Any kind of stuff that you have laying around you could change in to a great gift or just a notebook for you. You can even put your own unique style on to the notebooks. All you have to do is get the notebook and glue on the paper. Then you can add some string or a photo to make in more fun. If you want to add some sparkles or even some stickers you could.

I hope you enjoy making the notebooks as much as I do.

You can see a close-up of each notebook on the slide show that I made.
