(Safe)
I have nothing to fear
Nothing to hide from
The walls will crumble
I'll step out into the light
Lowering my weapons
I have nothing to fear
Nothing to hide from
The shaking
The trembling
Will stop
I have nothing to fear
Nothing to hide from
The yelling will end
The harsh word will disappear
Never to be seen
I have nothing to fear
Nothing to hide from
I have no reason to cry
No one can hurt me
No one can touch me
Can I share this poem with my middle schoolers? I teach in El Cajon California and we just finished reading this book. I would love students in my class to write poetry in response to the book, and this would be a great example.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Mrs. Ilko
Ana - this is such a lovely poem! I'm so glad you're stretching your wings and posting some poetry here!
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of people who can listen to music and write. I have to have my writing space totally quiet. It's funny how all writers are different, isn't it?
Hello Mrs. Ilko I wanted to tell you that sure you can show the poem to you class.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Great response to the book/movie...in poetry! How are your "give me a word to write from" poems coming along? Maybe we'll see some of them here, too? :-)
