TRUE (... sort of) by Katherine Hannigan

Sally from Cover to Cover Bookstore gave my mom this book called TRUE (... sort of) by Katherine Hannigan. What first got my attention was the cover. On the cover there's the leaves of a tree and a bird house and a yellow and red bird that looks like someone drew it. The book said its for kids 8-12 and grades 3-7. I myself don't think kids 8-9 should read this book. The book has some parts that made me cry and scared me. The book's not that scary, it's just kinda sad in the end. The book's not out yet but when it comes out I think a lot of people would like it. The book really touches your heart. The book will be out in stores on May 2011. The author who wrote Ida B wrote this book too. There are 368 pages but the font is not that small. This is now one of my favorite books! I think anyone in the mood for a heart touching book will love TRUE (... sort of).

She loves animals but                          A girl
She doesn't  speak                               So sweet till she turned 6
You can't touch her                              She never smiled
She doesn't like loud noise                  She didn't use words
Her eyes are filled of sadness              She used her fist's
What happened to her?                       She was trouble
She's just a kid                                      She had no more friends
Her name is Ferris                              People always gave up on her
FERRIS BOYD                                 She was a small little girl
She was in trouble                              People picked on her
                                                           This girl's name was Delly
                                                           DELLY PATTISON
                                                           She was trouble

  1. Ana,
When I saw you at school the other day, you looked so interested in the book you were reading. Now I can understand why. It sounds like this was a book and character you could really connect with. Books that "touch your heart" are the best.
Thanks for sharing your response to the book. I bet you are right. Others will really like this book. I hope you recommend it to your friends.

  2. I'm so glad you liked this book! I thought it was even better than her last book, Ida B. Have you ever read that one? It might be fun to read and compare.
I'm glad to see you wrote about the parts that affected you so much. What happened to the one character made me mad and sad all at the same time. I'm glad Delly was her friend.

  3. My mom has been trying to get me to read this book all summer. It is sitting right on my porch. THanks for warning me that it may be a little sad!
